A Love That Lingers
It stays — in memories, in moments, in you.
I’m Mercedes — the heart behind Heart N Soul.
I started Heart N Soul because love — and loss — have shaped me in ways I’m still learning how to put into words.
It started with a phrase my Nan would always say: “I love you, heart and soul.” And it stayed — long after she was gone. In the sticky notes she left in our drawers. In the way I fold my towels like she did. In the ache and the warmth that grief somehow brings all at once.
After losing her — and then my uncle, and our sweet family dog…I realized how much I was carrying.
But I also realized how lucky I was to have had something worth missing. And I wanted to create a space that held that same kind of love. For the people we’ve lost. For the memories we’re still making. For the ones we can still say “I love you” to.
So this is Sunday Letters — a quiet weekly space for reflection, remembrance, and presence. A place to write, to remember, to reflect.
To say what was never said. Or say it again — just in case.
Each week, I’ll share a short letter from the heart, and a gentle prompt for you to write your own.
Because love doesn’t end. It changes form. It lingers. And it deserves to be remembered and appreciated.
I am so happy you are here. <3

When she came to visit, she’d leave a quiet trail of love behind.
We wouldn’t find them all right away.
Some would surface days later, even weeks — little yellow squares with sweet reminders, written in her familiar handwriting.
This one is from when I moved to LA for school.
She tucked notes in literally every single box I packed.
I swear, I found notes for weeks.
Quiet little reminders — “I’m so proud of you,” “Don’t forget how loved you are,” “You’ve got this.” I didn’t find them all at once.
They revealed themselves over time.
Every time I found one, it felt like a little burst of her love showing up exactly when I needed it.
And now that she’s gone, they’ve become tiny treasures. Simple reminders of her love.
Leaving sticky notes has now become one of my favorite things to do, too.
When my boyfriend goes on trips, I tuck them in his luggage, his wallet, some of the most random places.
I hope that when he finds them, he feels it…the love, the thought, the presence.
This Week’s Prompt:
Write a note for someone you love and hide it — in their jacket pocket, in a book they’re reading, inside a purse or a moving box.
What quiet reminder do you want them to carry with them?
From my heart to yours,
Mercedes

P.S.
She’d always leave a quiet trail of love behind.
This is me doing the same.
