the thing we all have in common

how love and loss connect us more than we realize.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this:

to love is universal. and so is loss.

We all love something — someone — deeply.

A parent, a partner, a pet, a place, a moment in time.

And eventually, we all lose something too.

Sometimes it’s through death.

Other times, it’s distance.

Or change.

Or growing in opposite directions.

No one escapes the ache.

But that’s also what makes love so powerful:

We choose to love anyway.

Even knowing it won’t last forever.

Even knowing it might break our hearts.

We love with our whole selves — because that’s what it means to be human.

That’s what Heart n Soul is really about.

Not just the loss. Not just the grief.

But the fact that you were lucky enough to experience something so real, so beautiful,

that its absence still echoes.

That it’s worth missing.

And always will be.

It’s also about choosing to continue to live that way.

To love just as loudly.

To show up fully for the people who are still here.

To say the thing. To make the call.

To live in a way that makes the most of the time we get — even when it’s fleeting.

Because if love and loss are inevitable, then presence and expression are the choices that give them meaning.

This Week’s Prompt:

Write a letter about someone (or something) you’ve loved deeply — whether they’re still in your life or not.

Honor the imprint they left. The mark they made. The way they changed you.

From my heart to yours,

Mercedes

P.S.

If you’re carrying love or grief or both — you’re not alone.

We all are. That’s what connects us.
